This is the titular novel of an intended trilogy that, like so many other best-laid plans, has never been fully realized. Revolution, the second novel in the series, is available on this site. Aftermath, the intended finale, has never been written.
I think I wrote the novels in about 2012 or 2013, but I'd pretty much forgotten them both until others suggested that our current sociopolitical milieu might call for a revival. So I brought them out of retirement.
The novels follow two young lovers in their quest for survival in a dying socialist paradise. They face all the wonders of socialist living, traces of which can be seen in our own society today: censorship, indoctrination, constraints on physical and social mobility, paranoia engendered by a government that encourages its citizens to snitch on each other, and, of course, in conjunction with the censorship, the government's obsession with controlling the sociopolitical narrative so that everything it does appears to be the right thing at the time. Will our protagonists, Star and Tipper, flourish under such circumstances? You have to read the novels to answer that question.
